Layken is going to have a...

We're back! After more than a month away from the blog scene, we are back with more exciting news! This morning we found out that we are having a...

GIRL!!!

Pippin Lane Morrow
Due: August 30th, 2014

She is doing great and is growing right on schedule! Layken, as well as Daddy and Mommy, are overjoyed at the thought of having a little sister around to shadow her every move! We are always asked before we know what we are having what we would like to have and the honest answer has always been, as long as the baby is healthy we will be elated with whatever God blesses us with! We are so excited to share this news with all of you. Layken was so excited to see the baby on the screen and moving around, she kept pointing and saying "baby".

Mommy is currently 17 weeks along and Pippin and I are both growing at rapid speed now!

Aside from all of the exciting news about Pippin and sisters, we have been enjoying some warmer weather and outdoor meals. Myles just recently returned home from a 2.5 week stay aboard the USS Iwo Jima. Layken's Grammy Denny came to stay with us while he was gone, which was much appreciated as we were both sick. Sadly, he leaves again for about a month in May, but we know he's doing what he was called to do and couldn't be more proud of him! Here are a few photos from the last month or so and we hope it won't be so long before we are back on here with more updates about Layken and Pippin!

In the photo below she is putting stickers on Ruger while he sleeps, poor puppy!

God bless and we love you all! Thanks for reading!

And then there were...

My apologies for being absent from the blog. Myles and I have discussed doing this once a month now because, well, we don't do enough in one week to really write anything entertaining. However, since we have been gone for so long we have so much to share, and rather than recapping the last two months in words, we have decided to share them through photos.

Our first photos, we hope will bring you all tons of joy, as they certainly have for us...

Pink or Blue,
either will do,
we're expecting...
BABY #2!

Due: August 30, 2014

This would be our excuse for not keeping up to date with the blog, we hope you can forgive us. :) Aside from the exhaustion and upset stomach (no nausea, thank goodness) mommy and baby are feeling and doing great! I will add that Layken points to my belly when we ask her where the baby is and she will also give it kisses before bed, endless kisses, in which we believe is to avoid going to bed! We love every second of it and cannot wait for the day she becomes a big sister, however, we are treasuring her last few months as the only child (well kind of.. Ruger) ;)

So, here will start the last month in photos, including a few family photos. In short we opened a lot of Christmas presents, started new family traditions making cookies for Santa, spent time with Grammy and Grandpa Denny here in NC, went to the aquarium, spent a week away from Daddy while teething and sick (never fails to happen when he's gone) and had our FIRST snow!! We hope you enjoy the photos!!

We're dreaming of a white Christmas... (current temp is 75)

Hello all! We were hoping it would at least be cold for Christmas, but this week has brought us 70 and 80 degree weather. We are taking it in stride and picturing the rain predicted for tomorrow as a beautiful white snowfall, a family can dream right? This past week has, again, brought us new adventures that we cannot wait to share with you all.

Our week started with duty on Sunday, so to brighten up Daddy's exhausting Sunday/Monday we showed up to help him out. It's always best when we're all together, so we sneak in the time whenever we can!

We spent some precious time with our dearest friends Kim and Addie. Layken and I were able to steal some quality time with Addie this week, and I even got some snuggles while Layken napped. We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends down here, we consider them family. Also, Kim gifted us a healthy recipe books she put together, so we will be sharing some new recipes with you all soon!

Tuesday night was Myles' squadron Christmas party. We had an absolute blast! Layken got to see Gunny Clause for the second straight year. He gave her a kangaroo beanie baby, an ornament and a ball, which Ruger loves. Also, we made a gorgeous reindeer centerpiece (had a lovely couple that helped us) as part of a competition and won second place, earning Myles a half day off work!! We cannot wait to take advantage of that!

Later in the week, we went to a LIVE play about the birth of Christ, it was amazing. It was a drive through set up with multiple scenes, Layken and Ruger both enjoyed it. Ruger mostly enjoyed the live animals.

This week we also received some very thoughtful gifts in the mail from our friends Jason and Angie! Layken got a Dr. Suess book, Myles got a HUGE reese's bar (and I mean HUGE, each piece is a half pound) and I got a cross with a verse that coincidentally was in our wedding vowels. They were such thoughtful gifts and we cannot say thank you enough.

Our week ended with a trip to the Farmer's Market and park. Although we were hoping for chilly weather, we took advantage of the warmth. Layken absolutely LOVES the swings and looking at the water. There was even a large Christmas tree for her to admire. We will end this week with some photos from the park and we cannot wait to share with you all of our Christmas photos next week!

We hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. And know that we will be with you all in spirit this holiday season. God Bless.

Someone is O-N-E!

Hello, I am finally back. I have few posts and three "fresh starts" already. My hope is for this to now become a weekly blog to keep our friends and family updated on our lives, as I have decided to rid myself of Facebook. Let me add, it is REFRESHING! If you know of anyone that would like to follow the blog, please let me know so I can add them, it is wonderful knowing people care about what we are doing in our daily lives.

With all of that said I am going to begin where Facebook ended, and if I recall that was Layken's first birthday celebrations. If not, I love reliving the memories of the beautiful celebrations of her life thus far, she is our JOY!

It started with Family Day at Myles' work. There were tons of bouncy houses, food, games and lots of friends. Later in the evening she was able to celebrate with "cake" made by Mommy and spend time with her sweet, sweet friend Adelynn!

Shortly after her actual birthday, we began the trip home to visit with friends and family for Thanksgiving. We feasted and celebrated, A LOT. We were so fortunate to meet our sweet niece Kylie Anne, whom is adorable and couldn't be more perfect. And we loved seeing her big brother, Mason, too. We visited with all of our family and some friends (time was limited unfortunately), but in all of that Layken had three additional birthday celebrations. She had lots of cake and received way too many gifts for a one year old, but she LOVES them all and splits play time equally amongst them. We are so blessed with so many amazing friends and family and cannot say thank you enough for all of the love that you share with our family.

Upon returning home it has been back to the daily grind. For Myles that entails a lot of Marine things and his favorite time, bath time. Ruger even began joining in on the fun, although it is really because he is jealous of Layken's rubber ducks. Quack! Quack!

We also went to our first gymnastics open gym with our friends Kim and Adelynn, they were so gracious to invite us. We had an absolute BLAST! It was a work out for all! I saw such an amazing side to Layken that day, so sweet that I will share the story.

There was a little boy, maybe 4, crying because he could not pick up all of the balls he wanted to play with at once. Layken instantly dropped what she was doing, ran to the little boy, picked up one of the balls and tried to hand it to him.

Talk about a heart warming moment. I pray everyday that she understands compassion, empathy, love, sharing and all things kind and in that moment, at such a young age, she showed me those prayers are answered through so many daily interactions. She is truly the light of our world. Needless to say, we will be regulars at gymnastics as we hope to enroll her in Parent and Tot instructional classes this Summer.

Phew! That was a lot, but next week it will be a lot shorter, unless we decide to embark on multiple new adventures! God bless you all for reading this blog and being tuned into our our family, we are very grateful to all of you. Enjoy your week!

Growing Together

Getting back into the blog world...

It seems so crazy, but the last time we posted on here was the announcement of us having a little girl! We had no idea that little girl would be our perfect little Layken

This little girl is beyond a bundle of joy! She is a constant reminder to live everyday as if it were our last. She ALWAYS has a smile on her face, she giggles at everything and she is always learning and discovering new things! In the past few weeks she has been learning how to crawl...

We are not quite there yet, we somehow always end up in a plank...

We are trying all sorts of new foods, she LOVES moms cooking! ;) her Daddy is her hero and best friend, she could giggle with daddy doing anything!! Changing a diaper with dad ALWAYS turns into a giggle session, it's the greatest sound in the world! We couldn't be more excited to continue this journey of parenting with our remarkable daughter! She is our WORLD!

We'll try to keep up with the blogs weekly and sharing her achievements and memories made each week through words and many many photos! We love you all, God bless!
